Louisiana Lottery Confirms Powerball Jackpot Win on Wednesday

(Baton Rouge, LA) The big money just keeps flying out of the Powerball Lottery game. We've had fewer than a dozen drawings in 2026. Already, there have been several big-money wins in Louisiana. And based on information we've received via the Louisiana Lottery, there was an apparent jackpot winner based on the results of Wednesday's Powerball drawing.

If you weren't following the Powerball game too closely as of late, that game has been paying out a lot. Two Louisiana players have earned $150,000 prizes in two of the drawings that have been held this year.

The current jackpot prize has been growing ever since there was an almost two billion dollar winner in the game on Christmas Eve. Since then, the Powerball jackpot has grown with each drawing.

How Much Was the Powerball Jackpot For Wednesday, January 21, 2026?

From what we understand, as the ping pong balls were about to drop last night, the official estimated annuitized jackpot in the game was $209.3 million. Here is how the drawing for Wednesday, January 21, 2026, played out.

I am going to have to do a study and see which host gets the most jackpot wins. It certainly seems as if anytime Laura Johnson is "pulling the numbers," that's when the jackpot prizes are won. Coincidence? You bet, but it would still be an interesting adendum to Powerball lore, wouldn't it?

There weren't any really big wins in Louisiana in Wednesday's Powerball. The largest prize the Louisiana Lottery noted on its data sheets was a $200 win. I think there were only six tickets that earned that prize, so not a lucrative lottery night, at least in Louisiana.

There were no big wins in Lotto or Easy 5 last night. Those are the other two big-money draw games that are played on Wednesday. Tonight is kind of an off night for the multi-state lottery games. Mega Millions returns Friday with a jackpot prize of $266 million. Powerball will draw on Saturday with a new jackpot. The top prize in the game Saturday will be $20 million.
