We are in the thick of the holiday season in Louisiana. We made it through Halloween and now we're in Thanksgiving and Christmas mode for the remainder of 2024.

While we don't want to skip over the deliciousness that is Thanksgiving lunch, many families in Acadiana enjoy checking out Christmas lights displays, whether they are ones you view by walking or driving.

While we have a few great attractions to view in the area that fill this need (like Noel Acadien au Village), there are some cool lighting displays just a short drive away.

One of those that many folks have said great things about happens in Texas just southwest of Houston in the town of Rosenberg and it's called Magical Winter Lights.

It's located at the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds (4310 State Highway 36, Rosenberg, Texas) and it sure looks pretty amazing.

This year's Magical Winter Lights will run from November 15, 2024, through January 5, 2025.

What is Magical Winter Lights?

Magical Winter Lights is a spectacular, larger-than-life event that features a vibrant array of multicultural holiday displays and interactive exhibits, appealing to families and holiday enthusiasts alike.

It occupies several acres of outdoor space, featuring Texas-sized lantern masterpieces using Chinese lantern-making techniques, some of which are 60 feet high.

New this year will be nightly acrobatic shows which will include "daring feats and gravity-defying performances."

Magical Winter Lights has become Houston's largest holiday celebration and the nation's largest lantern festival of its kind.

How much are tickets to the festival?

Tickets for festival admission start at $19 for Seniors 65+ and Children 3-12 years old. Adults are $27, while Children 2 and under are free.

You can also purchase a Family 4-Pack of tickets for $96, which is a $3-per-person saving.

There is also a Carnival as part of the festival and tickets for those can be bought separately. Carnival wristbands are $30, which gives you access to unlimited rides on the day of attendance.

Friday - Saturday: 5:00 pm - 11:00 pm

On all major holidays (Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year's Eve, and New Year's), the festival is open from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

How long does it take to walk through the festival?

It will take approximately two hours to walk through the lantern exhibits and to catch a nightly performance or cultural act.

Organizers suggest you carve out about three hours of your day since Magical Winter Lights also offers other entertainment like a full-service carnival, musical performances, vendor shops, a food court, and more.
