Mega Millions Produces $10,000 Louisiana Lottery Winner Tuesday
Luck is being a lady in Louisiana and has been a regular contributor to the big wins lottery players in Louisiana have experienced over the past several weeks. You might recall back in May of 2023 the "winning well" for Louisiana's lottery crowd appeared to dry up.
Well, the faucets of free-flowing cash have returned. Okay, maybe not "free-flowing" but at least lottery players in Powerball, Mega Millions, Lotto, and Easy 5 are seeing some big returns on their investments of a couple of bucks.
Last night the multi-state lottery game Mega Millions was in the spotlight and we have good news for at least one Louisiana ticket purchaser. You are holding a ticket worth $10,000 this morning. Let's get you the details.
Here's the way the balls dropped for last night's August 22, 2023 drawing:
The estimated annuitized jackpot for last night's drawing was $33,000,000. Here's how the balls bounced out of the hopper if you want to check your numbers.
01 12 26 36 50 Megaball 07 Megaplier x2
Those numbers can be verified at the Mega Millions official site. Speaking of officials, game officials say no tickets sold across the nation matched the numbers needed to take the jackpot of $33 million plus. There was a ticket sold in New York that Matched 5 for a prize of one million dollars.
The Texas Lottery is reporting three tickets sold in the Lone Star State matched the numbers needed to claim a $10,000 prize. There was also a ticket sold in the Texas Lottery that matched the numbers needed for the $10,000 win but that ticket purchaser opted-in on the Megaplier for a total prize of $20,000.
The Louisiana Lottery is confirming 15 tickets sold in the state for Tuesday's Mega Millions game are worth $200 or more. There were seven $200 winners, five $400 winners, a $500 winner, and a $1,000 winner in addition to the $10,000 win confirmed by the Louisiana Lottery.
The $10,000 winner was sold in Abita Springs at the Big Boss Express #2 on Highway 59. If you purchased a ticket there, it would certainly be in your best interest to check those ticket numbers to see if the $10,000 prize is yours.
The Powerball game will step into the spotlight tonight for lottery players across Louisiana and the nation. Tonight's Powerball top prize is an estimated $313 million if you choose the annuitized option. If you win and want the lump sum cash payment your prize would be an estimated $150.2 million. Naturally, those figures are before the tax man lays claim to his share.
Tonight's Lotto Jackpot is $1.7 million and the Easy 5 Jackpot is now up to $80,000. Those drawings are tonight along with the Powerball drawing. As always, we encourage responsible play in these and any games of chance. If you need help with a gambling issue please call 1-877-770 STOP (7867).
