There is an old joke that Lafayette has too many Mexican restaurants and car washes. We asked Google about the density of Mexican restaurants in the Greater Lafayette area, and the approximation came back as "between 35 and 45".

What is the Ratio of Mexican Restaurants to People in Lafayette, Louisiana?

If we assume, using numbers from the most recent Census, that there are approximately 450,000 residents in Greater Lafayette, that means only one Mexican Restaurant for every 10,000 people. Come on, we have room for more based on those numbers.

Why Do We Usually Order The Same Dish No Matter What Restaurant We Visit?

Most of us are pretty consistent with our Mexican meal planning too. We tend to order the same dish no matter what restaurant we visit. I like chimichangas; I have had chimichangas at about 20 or so of Lafayette's 35-45 restaurants that make them. I have yet to be disappointed.

Many of you are strictly fajita people, or you only go for nachos, or God forbid, you attempt to find something healthy. We actually do have one salad on the list; I wasn't surprised it was there; it's really good.
