(KMDL-FM) When you think of all of the things that could kill you in this day and age, I would be willing to bet snack crackers weren't in your top ten list of potential perils. But because this is 2025 and most of the time the world doesn't make sense, there is now a potential problem with you snacking on one of the most popular snack crackers in the world.

Why Is There a Recall of Ritz Crackers?

The voluntary recall from Mondelez Global LLC does involve the popular Ritz Crackers. Ritz Crackers are quite popular this time of year as they are an excellent delivery method for dips, sausages, cheeses, and other assorted gooey goodness that just tastes better when "it sits on a Ritz".

Now, before you start tossing all those boxes of Ritz Crackers you purchased for this weekend's holiday party, you should know it's not the crackers themselves that have raised a concern. The Mondelez Global LLC voluntary recall affects Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches.

The recently updated recall is actually being administered out of an abundance of caution from the original recall on the product that was first noted this past July. The new information on the recall is not an expansion but merely a reminder that recalled products could still be in circulation or in consumer kitchens and pantries.

The problem with the product is a packaging or labeling error. As we mentioned, the issue with the product that you see pictured above is that individually wrapped packages inside the 20-count box could be mislabeled. Again, we should note, the larger outside packaging is labeled correctly.

What is the Deadly Reason That Ritz Cracker Sandwiches Are Being Recalled?

The mislabeled sandwich snacks are labeled as the cheese variety of sandwich snack when, in fact, they contain peanut butter. As you know, many Americans suffer from severe peanut allergies that can cause a fatal reaction. Hence, the packaging error is a serious situation for some, but not as serious for others.

Still, if you have some of the affected products, you can view the SKU and Product Code Numbers here. You are encouraged to discard the product or bring any unused portion to the place you purchased it for a refund or replacement product.

Consumers who have a peanut allergy should not eat these products and should discard any product identified in the grid above. Consumers can contact the company at 1-844-366-1171 Monday–Friday, 9 am to 6 pm ET.
