The New Orleans Saints have a new backup quarterback.


The deal is reported to be for one-year, at $1.5 million, with a $100,000 bonus.

The Saints were looking for a new backup quarterback after Chase Daniel agreed to a free agent deal with the Chicago Bears on Wednesday.

The 27-year old Savage was selected in the 4th round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans.

A native of Springfield, Pennsylvania, Savage appeared in 8 games for the Texans last season, including 7 starts, completing 125-of-223 passes for 1,412 yards, to go along with 5 touchdowns and 6 interceptions.

Over his 4-year NFL career, Savage has thrown for 2,000 yards and 5 touchdowns, with a passer rating of 72.5.
