Second Harvest Food Bank in Lafayette will be distributing "oven-ready" meals to families who are in need for Christmas.

On Wednesday, December 23, 2020, Second Harvest will be distributing those meals to families who reside in Acadiana. The distribution will be on a first-come, first-serve basis while supplies last.

To pick up a meal, swing by Second Harvest Food Bank on 215 E Pinhook Road in Lafayette on Wednesday between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm.

Second Harvest asks those needing the meals to follow these directions to their distribution site:

Head east on Pinhook toward the Evangeline Thruway, take left on East Vermilion, then left on Forrest St, and then left on Refinery Street. Line up on the right-hand side of the road closest to Second Harvest. Do not block any driveways while waiting, proceed forward as space allows. Turn in the gate once directed to do so Second Harvest can load your vehicle and drive through. Exit facility by taking a right-hand turn onto Pinhook for safety purposes.

Second Harvest Food Bank has made a tremendous impact in 2020 in South Louisiana, between natural disasters and the coronavirus pandemic. All total, they've provided more than 40 million meals across South Louisiana, including tens of thousands of prepared meals from the Second Harvest Community Kitchen.

The distribution on Wednesday will help provide a holiday meal for anyone in Acadiana who is experiencing hardship this holiday season.
