An approaching storm system currently situated over the intermountain west is expected to march toward South Louisiana during the day today and on Thursday. That storm system should begin to affect Louisiana's weather by late in the day on Friday.

The Storm Prediction Center currently has a portion of South Louisiana under the gun for a marginal threat of severe storms. The rest of the state will experience showers and thunderstorms as the system moves through but as of now the hot spot for heavy storms will be extreme southeast Texas and southwest Louisiana on Friday.

Forecasters with KATC are suggesting that in between now and Friday conditions should be quite nice across South Louisiana. Temperatures will be slightly above seasonable norms until the front arrives on Friday night.

The outlook for the weekend is nice following the frontal passage but those planning to attend UL football at Cajun Field or the LSU game at Tiger Stadium will want to bring a jacket as temperatures will be falling during the course of those contests.

Saturday's high temperature will only make it into the lower 60s while overnight low temperatures won't be that cold. They should only fall to the lower 50s or upper 40s by Sunday morning.
