Severe Weather Possible Late Friday Into Saturday
The Storm Prediction Center has once again placed most of Louisiana under the gun for the threat of severe weather heading into the weekend. Forecasters are suggesting that the greatest threat of strong to severe thunderstorms and possible tornadoes will be over the northwest corner of the state on Friday.
The central and southern sections of the state will have a lesser probability of storms reaching severe limits. However, that doesn't mean areas along and south of I-10 should let their guard down. The threat of strong storms with heavy rain and high winds will likely occur as the frontal system moves through.
The current forecast models for South Louisiana seem to indicate our best chance of strong storms will come between midnight and sunrise on Saturday morning.
Skies should begin to clear as the system pushes through the state and by Sunday morning most of Louisiana will experience sunshine and cooler temperatures to round out the weekend.
