A weak low-pressure system is expected to slowly slide out of Texas during the day today. Ahead of the counterclockwise circulation of that system we can expect an increase in clouds and an increased threat of showers and thunderstorms as we move through the day today.

The fact that a low-pressure system has a counterclockwise spin in the atmosphere means a lot of moisture will be pulled up from the Gulf of Mexico. That moisture will interact with the approaching frontal system to bring a 90% probability of rain and thunderstorms to Acadiana.

The good news is that most of the heaviest rain is forecast to fall during the overnight hours of late Tuesday into early Wednesday morning. The Storm Prediction Center is calling for some thunderstorms along the coast and just offshore but there should not be widespread severe weather associated with this storm system.

Behind the low-pressure system, skies should remain mostly cloudy during the day on Wednesday. There will also be a 30% chance of showers for the daylight hours too. Forecasters say a slight risk of rain will remain in the Acadiana forecast for the day on Thursday and the areas next significant rain threat should enter the area by Friday.
