(KMDL-FM) If you live in South Louisiana, you might have to stop a minute to think about the answer to this question: "When is the last time it rained?" Over the weekend, much of South Louisiana was under a Fire Watch. Very similar to other weather watches, a fire watch means that conditions exist where a fire could break out and cause catastrophic damage. Fortunately, that didn't happen, but the area is still drier than it needs to be.

I think we've established that the area needs rainfall. However, the timing for the holiday weekend isn't exactly what we were hoping for. Forecasters say South Louisiana is currently enveloped by a warm tropical airmass. That airmass has abundant moisture, and because of the warmth and the moisture, there is instability. A series of disturbances will move across the area over the next few days. When they do, that is when the area will experience the greatest threat for showers and possibly thunderstorms.

The other weather feature we will be dealing with through the balance of the work week is fog. Expect foggy mornings all the way through Easter Sunday. The heaviest fog will occur right at daybreak and should burn off in the affected areas by 9 AM.
