Special Anniversaries in 2016

It seems like every day brings us a special day, anniversary, or remembrance, to celebrate, and it's so much fun when it happens to be something like 'National Pie Day'! Our friends at Lonely Planet have brought to my attention some really cool anniversary dates for 2016, and I wanted to share them with you, so you can celebrate too! 100 Years of the National Park Service - Celebrate at one of our 59 beautiful  national parks across the USA

400th anniversary of William Shakespeare's death - widely accepted to be April 23, 1616

80th Anniversary of the Spanish Civil War - began in July, 1936, and lasted 3 years

200th birthday of Frankenstein - Mary Shelley's enduring horror classic was written in Switzerland in 1816

70th Anniversary of the Cannes Film Festival - this artful invitation only festival is still just as popular today as it was at it's inception in 1946

75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor - President Roosevelt called it 'A Day which will live in Infamy'
