Subway Offering Free Sandwiches for Life if You Change Your Name to ‘Subway’
Do you like Subway sandwiches? Do you like them enough to legally change your name to "Subway" and get free sandwiches for life?
In Romeo and Juliet, Act II, Scene II, William Shakespeare poses the question:
"What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet."
With Subway's recent promotional announcement, it's a great question to ponder.
Subway has announced they're looking for someone who seriously loves their sandwiches so much that they'd change their first name to "Subway".
For real...legally change their first name to "Subway".
In exchange, Subway is offering free food for life.
Before you start filling out paperwork to change your name and get some free sandwiches, hold on, there's little more to it than that.
It's actually a contest that you'll have to win first.
From foodandwine.com -
"Part of that entry will include committing in no uncertain terms to changing your name should you win.
Then, upon winning, Subway will foot the bill for your official name change documentation and processing fees on LegalZoom."
If you wind up being the lucky winner, you'll have four months to show proof of your name change before your free Subway kicks in.
Interestingly, according to foodandwine.com, there's nothing stated in the official rules of the contest that prohibits you from changing your name back after providing the required proof that your legal name is Subway.
The contest is open to entrants over the age of 18 in most states (19 and over in Alabama and Nebraska, and 21 and over in Mississippi).
So, what exactly quantifies free Subway "for life"?
The official rules state the winner of the contest will receive $50,000 in Subway gift cards.
