Last week, 34-year-old Rogelio Andaverde of Edinburg, Texas wanted to go out drinking with his buddies. His wife, Marie Hernandez, wanted him to stay home.

Well, that wasn't going to fly with ole Rogelio, so a plan came into place.

He concocted a fake kidnapping to get out the house. He got some friends to put on masks and storm into his house with guns and "kidnap" him. They grabbed him, threw him in the car and off to drinking they went.

Apparently none of those big dummies realized that Maria would not take this as a joke. Instead, she did what any decent person would do, she called the cops. An all-out manhunt was soon on!

They sent out a helicopter and at least a dozen officers to search for him, but they couldn't find him.

The next morning, Rogelio walked into his house and told his wife that the kidnappers had shown him mercy and let him go.

Poor Rogelio thought that would be the end of that and he would go about his meager existence. Not so much. The cops continued to investigate and eventually figured out what exactly happened.

So now Rogelio has been arrested and charged with making a false report to the police, which is a Class B misdemeanor. He's facing up to a $2,000 fine and six months in prison, plus whatever his wife his going to lay down upon him!

His friends who staged the kidnapping were not charged.
