Yesterday we brought you the story of Disney's gumbo recipe video. There is a bunch of things going on with the gumbo they're making that South Louisianan's are taking issue with. KATC Production assistant David Hilbun made a reaction video to the Disney gumbo recipe fiasco, and it's probably the most perfect representation of how we all feel.
One of the biggest movies in the Disney Franchise's history is "The Princess And The Frog". It's a great movie, all about Louisiana. This morning, in honor the movie, Disney posted this video of their gumbo recipe. I've never tried it, so for all I know it's delicious but, it doesn't look like any gumbo I've ever had.
The best thing about cold weather in south Louisiana is the food! Gumbo is the go-to favorite, but that's just the beginning. We Cajuns know a lot, and we know even more about what tastes good and what warms us up when the temps drop.

I was up until the wee hours of the morning finishing up a gumbo that I was cooking for a friends Halloween party this evening. Since it is the weekend of the Crowley Gumbo Cook-off, let's talk Gumbo!
Without fail, my son will tell you that his favorite food is gumbo. Next to Christmas, his favorite event is the Rice Capitol Championship Gumbo Cookoff. He asks me every year when it is. I buy him a $5 wrist band and turn him loose. Cher little man, he is in roux heaven...
It's a good thing the first day of Fall is marked on our calendars because we sure couldn't tell by stepping outside. If my math is right we should officially be in the Fall season at 4:05 this morning. Dave Baker, our friend and meteorologist at KATC does tell us that it will feel less like Summer this weekend but when can we expect it to really get cool enough for gumbo?
