Body of Missing St. Martinville Man Found

Three weeks ago family and friends of Alfred Batiste became worried. The man had been reported as missing almost a month ago. Last night authorities in St. Martinville announced that they had found the body of Batiste.

It was found in his own home.

Investigators were called to the residence to do a welfare check Sunday afternoon on another family member at the house. While in the midst of that check Batiste's body was found.

Shortly after arriving on the scene police condemned the home. It was during a search of the premises that Batiste's body was discovered in a back bedroom. Officials say an autopsy will be performed on Batiste's body.

Police do say their investigation into Batiste's disappearance and death remains open at this time.
