This is a big week for road construction that is scheduled to happen on the two interstates that run through Lafayette - Interstate 10 and Interstate 49.
According to Scott Mayor Jan-Scott Richard, this project is expected to take eight months, weather permitting, and the completion date is projected for April 16, 2023.
Over these next two weeks, city and state DOTD crew members are working to make traffic improvements across Lafayette that are expected to not only improve the condition of the roadways but also to help traffic flow on them.
For the last two years, residents and travelers who use Kaliste Saloom Road between Ambassador Caffery Parkway and E. Broussard Road have been dealing with constant construction, which has caused lane closures as workers have been widening the roadway from two lanes to five lanes.
For nearly two months, there have been lane closures on Ambassador Caffery Parkway near the Dulles Drive intersection as crews have been making improvements as part of the Dulles Drive widening project.
