Everchanging Lafayette Business Landscape — Two Store Openings & One Closing Announced
As the title of this story infers, the business landscape here in Lafayette, Louisiana is always changing and ever-evolving. So let's get you caught up on a few comings and goings around the area.
You may recall that in June of this year, the owners of the longtime Lafayette aquatic specialty store Tropical Fish Bowl announced it would be closing after 45 years in business.
However, the owners alluded they would be making a comeback of sorts. And that's exactly what's happening with the announcement of the new Fleur-de-Sea Aquatics set to open on December 21st in Carencro.
A Facebook post announced news of the store's grand opening.
Their Facebook page succinctly describes the business like this:
Fleur de Sea Aquatics is an eclectic, fun, not your average fish store. Servicing all of your tank needs and supplies. We match attitudes, and make no apologies.
Fleur-de-Sea Aquatics is located at 105 Saint Louis St in Carencro. We wish them the best of luck in this new venture.
Another business making big moves is The Churros Boutique. The local, family-owned business first opened in the Acadiana Mall in 2018, and now they're adding another store.
The new location will be located at 2761 E Milton Ave Suite C-1 (formerly Bayou Baby Boutique) in Youngsville.
According to Developing Lafayette, the new Youngsville location will feature the same staple lineup of churros, but it will also expand to include sweet and savory crepes, milkshakes, frozen yogurt, and smoothies made with natural fruit.
The tentative opening date for the new Youngsville location of The Churros Boutique is set for March 2025.
The last bit of Lafayette business news is the least joyful as it's a business closing. However, there is a silver lining.
The owners of Buttross Jewelers, located at 2841 Johnston St in Lafayette (South College Shopping Center), have announced via social media that they will be closing the store at the end of the year.
As you can see in the post above, after 50 years of serving the Acadiana area, the owners have decided to retire.
The announcement of the impending closure read in part:
We are proud of the 50 years we have committed to customer relations in the Acadiana community, our dedication to quality of service, but most importantly the trust you all have bestowed on us. Having assisted now four generations of Buttross Jewelers customers is an accomplishment in itself. This has been a beautiful and rewarding career, and because of all of you, we thank you from the bottoms of our hearts.
We congratulate the entire Buttross family on a fantastic run in the jewelry business and all the best in retirement.
