You hate to see it but it's the nature of owning a local business. Sadly, two Lafayette, Louisiana area businesses have announced that they'll be shutting their doors down.

In a recent post on social media, the owner of Sam's Furniture Direct in Scott announced that she would be shutting down the business located at 5550 Cameron Street.

The store was set up as a direct-to-customer type furniture store with a clean and inviting showroom, yet without being an unnecessary expense.

Sam's Furniture Direct carried normal furniture like living room sets, sofas, chairs, and the like, along with mattresses and bedroom sets.

The news of the store closing, unfortunately, does not come as a huge surprise, as the owner took to Facebook over the summer to basically plead with customers to shop there or they would be forced to close.

We do wish Sam the best of luck in whatever life has in store for her next. She sure seems like a sweet young lady with a bright future.

The other Acadiana area business that will be closing is Bayou Pop Gourmet Popcorn in Youngsville.

Located at 209 Centre Sarcelle Blvd (Suite 101), the gourmet popcorn shop has been in business for about two and a half years.

They offer over 40 flavors to choose from the traditional popcorn flavors like butter, cheese, and kettle to more interesting flavors like king cake, watermelon, pizza, and many more.

The owner posted on Facebook about the impending closure.

As you can see in the post, the last day the store will be open is this Friday, September 20, 2024.

We also wish these owners the best of luck in their next endeavors.
