Louisiana will experience a hard freeze and possible snow this week, so it's time to consider what you can do to safeguard yourself and your home.

Making sure your pipes outside that will be exposed to the cold temperatures are wrapped, covered, or bundled up against the cold can save you thousands of dollars when you can prevent your pipes from breaking.

Pet experts advise anyone with an outdoor pet to bring them inside and shelter them during this cold snap.

He adds that people should remember forecasts change, but it seems likely a freeze will be upon us from Sunday night for a few days.
