On Saturday night at Cowboy's Night Club in Lafayette, 97.3 The Dawg held its annual Country Showdown. There were 10 amazing contestants who sang their collective hearts out for the entertainment of the crowd and the coveted title of 97.3 The Dawg Country Showdown Champion.

This year's title went to Sue Ellen Lindsey from all the way up in Taylor, Arkansas. Sue did a sizzling performance of an original song she wrote called "Buckwild".

The dynamic duo of Luzi-Ann from the New Orleans area finished runner-up with a sassy performance of the Carrie Underwood/Miranda Lambert hit "Somethin' Bad".

Third place went to Youngsville's Kevin Simon who delivered a very personal song he wrote in memory of a deceased family member called "Sing You Back to Life".

A huge thanks to everyone who came out and supported their favorite Showdown contestant. We are not exaggerating when we claim that this year's crop of contestants were from top to bottom the best we've ever had in this competition.

Sue Ellen Lindsey will now move on to the next competition later this year in Jackson, Mississippi with eventual hopes of making it to the national competition where she will have a shot at the $100,000 grand prize.

A final thanks goes out to Service Chevrolet Cadillac for once again sponsoring this event. Additional thanks goes to Mickey, Larry and the wonderful staff at Cowboy's Night Club for helping us put on a first class event. And also big props go to Guitar Center and Cowboy's Western Store for supplying great prizes for the top three finishers.
