In honor of Garth Brooks bringing his world tour to the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans in July, we have an extra special 'This Day in Country Music History.'

On this day in 1991, Garth Brooks held the number one spot on the US Country chart Ropin' the Wind, his third studio album. What makes it so special is that this album replaced his second studio album No Fences. (Together they spent a total of 18 weeks on the chart.)

Here are two of my favorite hits from Ropin' the Wind:

Shameless

Papa Loved Mama

I can't wait for July 10th, 11th and 12th and I know you can't either. Be listening for the 'Getaway to Garth' sounded all next week for your chance to win a pair of free tickets to see Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood in New Orleans!

Classic Country Saturday Night gets going in just a bit so get your requests together and give a shout on the leash line, 261-9797.
