It's August and if you've lived in South Louisiana for at least one summer then you know now is the time to keep an eye on the Gulf of Mexico. Any area of showers or thunderstorms could blow up into a tropical system in just a matter of days. The sea surface water temperatures and the light upper level winds are all it takes for a small area of disturbed weather to become a big problem

Is there trouble brewing the Gulf of Mexico? No, right now the area of disturbed weather is in the Caribbean Sea. The National Hurricane Center is giving this area of thunderstorms a medium chance of getting organized in the next couple of days into a tropical cyclone.
