Three From LSU Selected In The First Round Of The NFL Draft
There is a reason why LSU fans get overly frustrated with their football team. The team is usually loaded with NFL caliber talent. They just don't always show that incredible athletic talent on the field.
Or, perhaps, the reason the Tigers haven't reached the pinnacle of college football in a few years has been the lackluster coaching scheme. But that's allegedly been taken care with recent new hires for both the offensive and defensive coordinator positions.
Now, back to the talent. Thursday night in the NFL Draft threeTiger players were selected in the first round. Star running back Leonard Fournette will begin his NFL career as a Jacksonville Jaguar. Fournette was selected with the fourth overall pick. Former Tiger safety Jamal Adams was taken with the sixth overall pick by the New York Jets.
Tre'Davious White was also chosen in the first round by the Buffalo Bills. White played cornerback for the Tigers during his college career. He was selected with the 27th overall pick of the evening.
It's not like LSU hasn't had this kind of talent selected in the first round before. In 2007 quarterback and professional disappointment Jamarcus Russell was chosen number one by the Oakland, Los Angeles, Oakland, Las Vegas Raiders who were somewhere in California when he was chosen. That draft also sent LaRon Landry to the Washington Redskins with the 2007 6th overall choice.
The 2nd round of the NFL Draft gets underway later Friday and more Louisiana stars or stars that played at Louisiana schools are expected to be chosen in the later rounds.
