The graduating class of Southside High in Youngsville will be honored with a parade on Saturday, May 23. Southside High School along with all of the other schools in Acadiana are trying to get creative and find ways to celebrate their graduates since they aren’t able to have traditional graduation ceremonies this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Youngsville Mayor, Ken Ritter, is especially proud of the first graduating class of Southside High and has proclaimed the month of May 2020 as “Southside High School Senior Class of 2020 Month”. With this proclamation, he asks all the Youngsville citizens to congratulate the school graduates. In his Facebook post, Ritter thanks the Southside High Principal Cassidy and Senior Rhett Pelloquin for joining the City Council meeting to receive the proclamation on behalf of Southside.

The parade is scheduled for May 23 at 7 pm. This was the date and time for Southside High School’s original scheduled graduation ceremony.  According to KATC, more information on the parade will be given after a meeting with the police chief and the Lafayette Parish School System.
