If you have a background in municipal finance, enjoy dealing with numbers, budgets, and don't mind scrutiny and interference from elected officials have we got a job for you. The City of St. Martinville is now in the market for a new Chief Financial Officer.

The position of CFO was opened yesterday with the resignation of former CFO Shedrick Berard. Berard had come under intense scrutiny from council members after it was revealed that did not know the whereabouts of $18,000 in city funds earlier this week.

St. Martinville Mayor Melinda Mitchell read Berard's resignation letter to a special meeting of the city council that had convened yesterday to discuss Berard's handling of the missing money incident.

By the way, that money was located in a bank account by Police Chief Ricky Martin. The concern of the council was that Berard was not aware the money had been deposited or the name of the account in which it was placed.

The search for a new Chief Financial Officer is now underway.
