For anxious kids who are worrying whether they will be able to get their candy fix at Halloween this year, there are a couple of events that will make sure that happens.

The Lafayette City Police department will host their annual drive through trick or treat event on Thursday, October 29th at 900 East University Avenue. The spooky festivities will be held from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm in the parking lot directly across the street from the Police station. The event is on a first come first served basis, with 250 pre packaged treat bags given out to littles who want to celebrate Halloween a bit early.

And on Saturday, October 31, families in Opelousas are invited to attend the "Safe Halloween Drive Thru" event at the Opelousas Civic Center at 1638 Creswell Lane. Treats will be dispensed from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm, and familiesare being asked to remain in their vehicles, and wear masks during the drive thru. Children are also encouraged to wear their costumes. Opelousas Mayor Julius Alsandor told KADN FOX 15 "This year it is even more important to celebrate Halloween safely. Our goal is to make sure children can enjoy Halloween without putting themselves or others at risk.” Local bussinesses and civic organizations teamed up to offer a one of a kind experience for Halloween this year, despite being in the middle of a coronavirus pandemic.
